Edgar Salus

Co-President

Edgar is a junior at Berlin International School where he is completing the IB programme. His primary interests include physics, engineering, finance and entrepreneurship. This led him to complete an internship with R3 Solutions following the speaker event hosted by JEC Berlin with their two CEOs. In the summer of 2024 Edgar co-founded his first startup: Vivica Electronics. Edgar is also a founding member of his school’s physics club and editor in chief for the school newspaper. Edgar has been playing field hockey for as long as he can remember. He is the team captain, and also works as an assistant coach for younger players at his club. Reflecting his passion for physics, Edgar runs an educational social media account called “The Quantum”.  Edgar is very excited to contribute to the positive impact JEC has on Berlin and beyond.

Yonatan Elkanati

Co-President

Yonatan is a senior at Berlin International School with aspirations to study finance or economics at university and then pursue a career in finance; specifically private equity, investment banking, or venture capital. After completing an internship that led to a student job at Aroundtown SA, one of Europe’s largest listed real estate companies, he gained extensive hands-on experience working on innovative projects alongside PropTech startups while also networking at meetings and events. Yonatan also co-founded the accounting club for his school’s café, where he gained practical knowledge in maintaining accounting processes and preparing financial statements. Furthermore, he goes to the gym and plays basketball multiple times a week while working on his own business ventures. As Co-President, Yonatan wishes to expand the network of students with a keen interest in business, finance, entrepreneurship, and economics to ensure that like-minded students can connect, collaborate, and learn from each other and Berlin’s industry professionals.

Giulia Nunes Loewe

Chief Innovation Officer

Giulia Nunes Loewe is currently in the thirteenth grade at Hans-Litten-School, which focuses on law and economics. Her interests revolve around politics, economics, and sustainability. Since 2022, she has been involved in organizing Europe’s largest youth climate conference, LCOY, where she leads a cluster in the program resort and has previously worked in public relations. Giulia actively participates in EYP sessions to engage with current political issues. Furthermore, her internship at the German federal parliament gave her a firsthand look at the significant impact that political processes have on economies. She has a passion for travel and enjoys attending educational events across Germany. After completing her Abitur, she is considering pursuing a major in economics, politics, or science. At JEC, Giulia hopes to explore her interest in economics further and, most importantly, contribute to organizing new, inspiring workshops and presentations in the field of economics.

Margarete Brych

Chief Technology Officer

Margarete is a 12th-grade IBDP student at Berlin Metropolitan School who is interested in global politics and economics. Her interest in these fields has driven her to engage in various activities, including participating in "Startup Teens," a business idea competition where she achieved 3rd place. Margarete's enthusiasm for economics led her to complete an online course titled "Microeconomic Principles" held by the University of Illinois. Her passion for politics led her to participate in various activities such as Oxford MUN and the European Youth Parliament (EYP). Outside of her academic pursuits, Margarete enjoys sports such as aikido and badminton. After IB, she aspires to major in Economics and Business at university. Margarete is eager to contribute her skills and knowledge to support the club's endeavors.

Charlotte Tillmann

Chief Marketing Officer

Charlotte is an 11th-grade student at Berlin Metropolitan School with a keen interest in economics and the business world. Her dedication to understanding global markets and financial systems drives her passion. Beyond academics, Charlotte is involved in various extracurricular activities that enhance her leadership and analytical skills. She has excelled in Model United Nations, earning the title of "Outstanding Delegate" at the Oxford 2022 conference. Charlotte is also committed to tennis, both as a player and a coach for younger athletes, and she enjoys playing the piano. Her leadership extends to being a class representative and a school ambassador, contributing to her school community by assisting at events. Charlotte aspires to pursue a career in economics and finance, with a strong interest in the business world and startups. By joining the JEC, she aims to collaborate with like-minded peers, organize impactful events, and gain valuable insights for her academic and professional growth.

Marieluise Tillmann

Chief Marketing Officer

Marieluise is an 11th-grade student at the Berlin Metropolitan School with a strong passion for economics and the business world. Outside the classroom, Marieluise is engaged in various extracurricular activities that develop her leadership and analytical skills. She has actively participated in Model United Nations conferences, including Oxford 2022, Bermun 2021, Harvard India 2021, and Yale 2021, which have honed her diplomatic and public speaking abilities. In addition to her involvement in MUN, Marieluise is dedicated to tennis, both as a player and a coach for younger athletes. Her leadership roles also include being a class representative, contributing to various school events and activities. Marieluise plans to pursue a career in economics and finance, with a particular interest in the business world and startups. Through her participation in the JEC, she looks forward to collaborating with peers, organizing impactful events, and gaining deeper insights that will support her academic and professional aspirations.

Richard Palfi

Community Outreach Officer

Richard is completing his Abitur at Hans-Carossa-Gymnasium, specializing in advanced mathematics and English. He has cultivated a deep interest in real estate and finance, gaining valuable insights from his family’s involvement in these areas. To further his education, Richard has engaged in specialized courses on finance at Bocconi University, Duke University, and Yale University, which helped him secure the “Best Speaker” award at two international competitions. He is now applying to top business schools across Europe to pursue a Bachelor’s degree, aiming to launch a career in economics and finance. After ten years of playing basketball—winning the German championship and receiving the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award—Richard has decided to dedicate himself fully to his studies. Additionally, he is committed to his role at JEC, where his primary goal is to connect with German schools, providing entrepreneurship-minded students in Berlin with opportunities to build strong networks and expand their knowledge.

Dennis Wissing

Public Outreach Officer

Dennis Wissing is a 12th-grade IB diploma student at Berlin Metropolitan School (BMS), where he studies Mathematics Analysis and Approaches, History, and German at a higher level. He is passionate about politics and economics. Therefore, he has actively engaged in Model United Nations conferences, including a recent event in Oxford. In addition to his academic pursuits, Dennis plays football at a high regional level, where he leads his team as captain. His ambition is to study Politics, Philosophy, and Economics at university, exploring the intersection of political theory and economic principles. As the Public Outreach Officer for the Junior Economics Club, Dennis is dedicated to enhancing the club's impact by engaging new members and increasing the reach of the Club within and outside of Berlin. Through JEC, he seeks to further his understanding of current political and economic developments while fostering a community of like-minded individuals passionate about making a difference.

Paula Oliveira

Logistics Manager

Paula is completing her second year of the IB Diploma at Berlin International School, where she is actively involved in various extracurricular activities. Her passion for the organization of sporting events and volunteer work for WomenEdDE has led her to assume the role of Logistical Manager for the JEC. Beyond her responsibilities at JEC, she is also a competitive Track and Field athlete at SCC Berlin, tutors students in English and Maths and co-coaches BIS’s U14 Girls Football Team. Looking ahead, she plans to pursue a career in sport parallel to a degree in economics and business administration. She is particularly interested in the intersection between business and film. At JEC, she is excited to collaborate with peers and mentors to create impactful events and projects that resonate with the community and help her grow both personally and professionally.


Felix Pappert

Event Manager

After a year at a British boarding school Felix is now starting his higher School  Certificate at  the Werner-von-Siemens Gymnasium in Berlin. Two years ago he completed an internship at an architecture office in Berlin which sparked his interest in architecture.  When Felix  finishes school, studying architecture or business is his dream. In addition, history and foreign cultures have always fascinated Felix. From a young age on he has been traveling around the world, experiencing  new cultures and meeting different  people. Recently, he has been to Iceland and New York  with his Geography class. Through his  interest for different cultures Felix also developed an interest for foreign relationships. In England,  he took part in a MUN conference where he represented Denmark. On the sports side Felix enjoys playing tennis and has been doing that for a long time. In England, he was part of the first tennis school team. Furthermore he is an excellent cook  and also likes to play chess.
